Raquel Acosta

Raquel Acosta is a ceramic artist based in Carshalton, England, working from her small garden studio. After leaving a career as a data analyst, she was drawn to clay for its slower, tactile rhythm, building a practice rooted in making by hand and refining forms on the potter’s wheel.

Her work is defined by clean, minimal silhouettes and a close focus on glaze chemistry, with a particular interest in reactive and crystalline glazes. Crystalline glazes develop through a precise firing and cooling process that allows mineral crystals to form within the glaze, creating organic patterning that’s never exactly repeated. Presented by Urn Studios as handmade ceramic cremation urns for ashes, Raquel’s pieces balance clarity of form with the natural variation of the kiln.
