Agateware Cremation Urn • Large

Artist: Alma Boyes

This large handmade Agateware cremation urn combines ceramic and wood, pairing a porcelain Agateware vessel by Alma Boyes with a Yew wood lid turned by Patrick Letschka. The Agateware technique involves layering and blending coloured clays to form flowing marbled patterns that run through the porcelain, revealing a one-of-a-kind surface on every urn.

Fired to stoneware, the vessel’s interior is glazed for protection, while the exterior is polished to a satin finish. The Yew lid is waxed inside and left natural outside, showcasing the warmth of the grain. Each urn is a unique, handcrafted memorial, celebrating both the materials and the lives they commemorate.
