Agateware Cremation Urn • Medium

Artist: Alma Boyes

This medium ceramic cremation urn for ashes by Alma Boyes is made using the Agateware technique, where layers of coloured clays are combined to create natural marbling through the porcelain body. Alma develops her own clay recipes and oxide blends, producing subtle shifts of tone that make every urn one of a kind.

Each vessel is wheel-thrown and turned by hand, then fired to stoneware for durability. The interior is glazed, while the exterior is polished smooth, revealing the flow of the marbled pattern. Elegant and understated, this handmade memorial urn unites craft tradition with contemporary form.
