Artist: Kate Gorbunova (Count Barkula)

Handcrafted in East London, the Elysian Fields Memory Vessel is a timeless ceramic urn honoring a beloved canine companion. Its form echoes Greek and Roman pottery, while hand-painted floral motifs in deep greens and soft purples evoke the tranquility of Elysian meadows. Atop the vessel, a guardian hound, inspired by Pre-Columbian and Mesoamerican art, watches over treasured memories.

Hand-built from white stoneware, it features ornamental underglaze details and a subtle crackle glaze. Each piece is one of a kind, with natural imperfections that enhance its unique character.

(Count Barkula)

Count Barkula is the playful ceramic alter ego of Kate Gorbunova, born during lockdown as an escape from screen fatigue. A graphic designer by trade, Kate sought a hands-on creative outlet—something tangible and deeply personal. She found it in clay. Inspired by her beloved whippet, Victor Hugo, Kate infuses each piece with character and mischief. Her ceramics blend ancient influences with a modern twist.

The shapes echo Greek and Roman pottery, while expressive animal figures nod to Pre-Columbian and Mesoamerican art. Richly decorated surfaces florals reminiscent of folk traditions and patterns inspired by Persian and Middle Eastern ceramics—bring each piece to life. Every work is hand-built and painted with love in Hackney, East London.
