This piece is made from stoneware clay and Bullseye glass. The bowl is wheel thrown, and the lid is cast using off cut waste Bullseye glass collected from other artists. Each piece embraces chance and variation, with patterns that may vary due to the recycled glass.

This series celebrates the unexpected beauty found in reuse, where every lid reveals a unique and surprising pattern shaped by the process.

Erica Tung

Erica Tung is a designer, maker, and material researcher based in London. Her work is driven by a curiosity about the properties and relationships of ceramic and glass. She is fascinated by the similarity between the two materials, their intersection of techniques, and how they complement each other when placed together.

Her work explores the emotional resonance of objects, with each box serving as a metaphor for both protection and the sentimental value attached to cherished memories. Through the work, she delves into themes of coexistence, connection, and nostalgia. The interplay between ceramics and glass reflects human relationships; their endurance, fragility, and evolution. Through this fusion of materials, she aims to provoke reflection on the complexity of personal connections, and how memory both preserves and reshapes these bonds.
