Jo Taylor
Jo Taylor graduated from the MA Ceramics course at Bath Spa University in 2012; since then she has made her distinctive work from her studio at her home in Wiltshire. Inspired by ornament in architecture, her works often reference the Rococo period. Freedom of creativity and making each work unique is central to Jo's practice; whilst the works reference the historic, the outcomes are contemporary. Techniques are combined (hand building, extrusion, sprigging, potter’s wheel) to create each work, which is fired once, unglazed, in order for the clay to communicate the marks, textures and surface clearly. The urns are made using White St Thomas clay which has been high fired to make the work durable and achieve a colour reminiscent of Bath stone.
