Crafted from rescued California elm and FSC-certified maple, this handmade wooden urn by C.C. Boyce explores contrast through form, tone, and natural character. The caramel-colored elm base features flowing grain and organic knots on both sides, while the creamy maple top reveals subtle spalting and a single natural knot, traces of the tree’s life and history.

The cremation urn for ashes opens discreetly with hidden rare earth magnets. Above the ashes chamber, a small space is designed to hold a succulent or cactus, bringing softness and a sense of renewal to the piece’s bold geometric form. Includes a ceramic cup for the plant above and a muslin bag to hold the ashes below.

C.C. Boyce is a second-generation woodworker and designer creating modern cremation urns and memorial objects in her studio located in the San Bernardino Mountains. She works primarily with rescued California lumber, giving new life to materials that would otherwise be discarded.

Her work blends minimal, geometric design with natural textures and irregularities in the wood, creating truly one-of-a-kind pieces. Inspired by the belief that memorial objects should be as unique as the people they honor, Boyce Studio vessels challenge traditional funeral aesthetics with designs that are warm, sculptural, and emotionally resonant. Each piece is handcrafted with an emphasis on material, craftsmanship, and meaningful connection.
