Gilly Whittington
Gilly Whittington is a ceramic artist whose practice began in the early 1990s, when she trained as a potter and established her first workshop. Her work has evolved over the years from earthenware to stoneware and, ultimately, porcelain, alongside a growing interest in painting and surface decoration.
Inspired by Abstract Expressionism, Gilly approaches each piece as an individual composition, painting directly onto the ceramic surface with coloured glazes. Fluid lines, bold shapes and contrasting areas of colour create a sense of movement and energy, ensuring that every piece has its own distinct character.
