Artist: Phil Irons

Handcrafted by Phil Irons, this wooden cremation urn is made from a remarkable 300-year-old Carpathian elm that once stood in Stonely, Bedfordshire (UK). After the tree was felled, its wood was entrusted to Phil, ensuring its story continued in craft rather than firewood.

During drying, natural fissures appeared and were transformed into a feature through the use of turquoise holographic epoxy, creating striking lines that highlight the elm’s grain. Finished with a durable wax oil requiring minimal care, the urn is both tactile and enduring. A hand-cut English boxwood lid provides a secure closure, completing this one-of-a-kind urn for ashes, a tribute to longevity and preservation.
