Michelle Wen is a ceramic artist born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. Working from her private studio, she throws exclusively with porcelain, mixes her own glazes, and fires each piece to cone 6 oxidation.
Michelle specialises in closed-form lidded vessels, where the urn is thrown in one piece and the lid is carefully separated at the leather-hard stage. Influenced primarily by historical Chinese ceramics, with secondary references to East Asian, Islamic, and Greek forms, she creates refined memorial urns that feel contemporary, personal, and quietly celebratory.
