Jesse Hamerman
(Beginner Ceramics)
Jesse Hamerman is the Brooklyn-based ceramic artist behind Beginner Ceramics. After first working with ceramics in college, Jesse returned to the medium more than two decades later, rediscovering his fascination with the material.
Approaching each piece with the mind of a beginner, Jesse creates handmade ceramic objects that carry a sense of wonder and play. His work takes inspiration from the bold colors and playful forms of Memphis design, the elegant geometry of Art Deco, and the simplicity and restraint of 1970s conceptual minimalism, bringing these influences together in distinctive objects that sit at the intersection of craft, art, and design.
